About the Designer
Xee Vang is a recent graduate of St. Catherine University with a B.A. in Apparel Design and minor in Studio Art.
Before attending school to pursue her passion, she has always been passionate about art and photography. She uses those elements to capture her fashion designs and expresses her vision through her works. Her inspiration is drawn from daily life, cultural experiences and current trends. She is currently focusing on women's wear, in mainly sportswear and formal wear, but would like to explore different area of designs in the future.
Her first collection, Refined, was showcased in Fresh Tradition IV 2010, inspired by her Hmong traditional wardrobe. Since then she decided to pursue her designs by attending St. Catherine University. In 2012, she was a recipient of the Cultural Community Partnership Grant that was granted by the Minnesota State Art Board. Within that project, she showcased her inspirational Hmong inspired couture collection, Sway, at the Visual Art Exhibition.
In 2014, she participated in the Sol Inspiration's Innovations 2014 scholarship and was awarded the Audience Choice Award for her sustainable dress, Crimson. She debuted her designer's collection, ZING, at the annual KATWALK: NOIR 2015 and received the Treadle Award 2015.
